With modern anesthetics and current technology, feeling any discomfort
from dental treatment is more often the exception than the rule.
But, if you’re still a little anxious about an upcoming dental appointment,
here's a few suggestions which might help you:
 |
- First, avoid the use of stimulants, such
as caffeine,, prior to your visit. This will really make a
difefrence. It's amazing how things that normally wouldn't bother
you, suddenly seem to affect you after two cups of coffee at 9am
in the dental chair.
- Tell the dental staff about any concerns
you may have.
- Use visualization to picture yourself
relaxed, or repeat messages that have a calming effect.
- Work out a signal with the dental staff,
such as raising your hand, if you need a break or feel any
discomfort.
- Bring a walkman with you so that you can listen to something
relaxing.
